The WIH Book Club MissionDesigned to bring together peers in a safe space to have inquisitive, thoughtful and constructive conversations around complex topics that relate to the WIH mission and values. The book club will focus on book choices that relate to healthcare industry education, professional development, mentorship, self care, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Book Club FormatParticipants are expected to obtain and read the selected book on their own. The group will come together for a happy hour and guided discussion to generate meaningful dialogue. Book club groups will be limited to 30 participants per book. Questions and a special gift will be provided in the participant's welcome package upon registration. Conversations will include a prominent guest moderator from the healthcare industry to guide the conversation. September Book:"How Women Rise" by by Marshall Goldsmith and Sally Helgesen How Women Rise was written by leadership expert Sally Helgesen and leadership coach Marshall Goldsmith to help women navigate the unique challenges they face as they advance in the workplace. This book helps women both identify and set aside habits that that may have beneficial to them early in their careers, but are now hindrances to their success. Sally and Marshall describe 12 habits that keep women from taking the next step and ultimately reaching their goals, and offer specific strategies and tools to help women change those behaviors for the better. Gayle Capozzalo is the Executive Director of The Equity Collaborative which is a part of the Carol Emmott Foundation and focused on gender equity in healthcare leadership and governance. She is also the President and CEO of JGF Strategies LLC, providing strategy guidance to healthcare organizations. She retired in July 2018 as the Executive Vice President/Chief Strategy Officer of Yale New Haven Health System. She joined the System in 1997 and was primarily responsible for System strategy development and execution, marketing, community and government relations, innovation, business development and mergers and acquisitions. Dr. Farzana Chohan is a Multidisciplinary, Thought leader and Founder. Dr. Chohan's work blurs the lines between Healthcare Architecture, Leadership and Mentoring to achieve transformation in life. Dr. Chohan is a published author, architect, researcher and is a founder of a platform for women in STEM professions. Dr. Chohan works to advance the leadership journey of humans. The primary focus of her work is the impact of mentoring in developing our leaders. Dr. Farzana holds a Doctorate in Management and Masters in Architecture and Urban Design.
