Celebrate Women's History Month through mentorship, shared leadership stories, and practical career development. This evening brings together women across healthcare for a facilitated fireside conversation and small-group mentorship circles focused on leadership, career navigation, and lived experience. Designed to foster candid dialogue, peer learning, and meaningful connection, attendees will leave with practical insights—and a concrete next step—to support their professional growth.

The intent is for attendees to:

  • Learn from women who have navigated complex healthcare careers
  • build meaningful peer and mentor connections while learning about the Lean-In Circles member program
  • leave with at least one concrete step for their professional growth

Event Format Overview

Fireside Chat

A moderated conversation featuring senior women leaders from different areas of healthcare, focused on lived experience, leadership lessons, and career navigation.

Speakers:

Stephanie McDonald, CIO, Central Health

Stephanie Lee McDonald currently serves as the Chief Infrastructure Officer at Central Health, the Travis County Hospital District. At Central Health, she oversees the built environment and physical footprint of the District including planning, design, construction, and administration of facilities to support a full safety-net health care system in Travis County. Her portfolio includes acquisition and real estate strategy, overseeing Health and Wellness Centers including programming aimed at improving nonclinical health drivers, as well as other support operations as Central Health delivers high quality health care to residents of Travis County. Her experience in public service includes serving as Chief of Staff to Mayor Pro Tem Sheryl Cole at the City of Austin as well as the first Executive Director of the Waller Creek Conservancy. She is the President of Capital City Innovation and has served on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Austin Alliance.
 A graduate of Austin College in Sherman Texas, Stephanie received the Heywood C. Clemons Volunteer Service Award in 2012. She lives in Austin Texas with her husband and their son, a proud AISD Scottie.

  Becky Barnes, COO of St David's North Austin Medical Center

Becky Barnes joined St David's North Austin Medical Center as chief operating office in May 2018. In this role, Becky oversees the day-to-day operations of the hospital and leads a variety of programs and service lines including heart and vascular, neurology, OR, rehab services, engineering, construction, respiratory therapy, imaging, pharmacy and lab.
 
Barnes has 22 years of healthcare experience. She previously served as chief operating officer at Rapides Regional Medical Center—a 328-bed tertiary/quaternary hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. Prior to her role there, she served for three years as chief operating officer of The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette, Louisiana, and for five years as vice president of operations at Rapides Regional Medical Center. Barnes began her career in healthcare serving in a number of clinical roles, including respiratory therapist, echocardiography technician, and echocardiography supervisor.
 
Barnes earned her bachelor of science degree in cardiopulmonary science from Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, and she went on to earn her master of business administration degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

  • Natale Stephens, Principal, Page now Stantec

Natale Stephens joined Page, now Stantec, in 2017, becoming Principal and Heath Lead for Central Texas in 2024. In addition to leading the health sector locally, Natale serves on the Global Health Leadership Team, as well as the Care Councils for Behavioral Health and Pediatrics specialties as a subject matter expert. Stephens has 20 years of healthcare experience as a planner, project manager, and architect. 
 
A graduate of The University of California Berkeley, she holds Evidence-Based Design Accreditation & Certification, National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Certification, is a licensed architect in both California and Texas, and is a Board Certified Healthcare Architect (ACHA). Natale currently serves as the Women in Healthcare Central Texas Chapter Programs Chair.
